A Windy Fall Point au Roche Engagement Session
The weather in Upstate NY this time of year is the definition of the phrase, “expect the unexpected”. Is it going to be snowing or 75 degrees? No one knows until day of, especially this time of year. But instead of snow, we were looking at massive rain showers that made us reschedule this session almost two different times. It’s never fun when you have to reschedule due to weather but sometimes you have no choice! I offered rescheduling the second time in the hopes of some better weather, but Hannah is a brave soul and wanted to go for it so that’s what we did!
The rain held off, but the wind was a totally different story. My hair was flying all around my face when I was location scouting before Hannah and Alex arrived and all I could think about was how I was going to make this work. I was going to have to make sure I placed them in the right spot for light, but if that happened to be the wrong way of the wind, Hannah’s hair would look like it was attacking her face. So many of these technical things were running through my mind, but when they showed up and got out of the car I was instantly put at ease. Hannah and Alex are the most down to earth couple I think I’ve ever met, and they weren’t worried about a little wind and all of a sudden, I wasn’t either. I knew we could make it work one way or another, and I think we definitely did just that!
These two are actually high school sweethearts, and started dating at their prom back in 2012. How sweet is that?! Alex popped the question after one of their evening walks and a short 8 days later, reached out to me about photographing their wedding because they had seen some of my work and loved it! I love when that happens 🙂 Hannah and Alex, thank you so much for being brave and taking on the crazy wind with me! Enjoy some of my favorites from your session!
