An Apple Blossom Engagement Session
This was my first session after giving birth to Grace. Even though she was due on the 15th, she decided to wait it out a bit and didn’t make her debut until the early hours of the 21st. This meant that I would be photographing Olivia and Scott’s engagement session less than a week after giving birth so I was nervous to say the least. I was also exhausted and wasn’t sure how I was going to make this happen. I hate not giving 110% into this business that I love so much so the thought of showing up exhausted, still sore, and feeling like I hadn’t shot a session in such a long time had me questioning if I should have rescheduled…that is, until Olivia and Scott got out of their car. I was greeted with such a warm and friendly “Hi! How are you?! How are you feeling?!” I knew from that moment that I had nothing to worry about and I was right. Olivia and Scott are such a fun and down to earth couple, the fact that I was worried about anything in the first place was such a waste of energy. They could relate to how I was feeling because they have a 10 month old at home so those newborn memories for them aren’t that long ago and because of that, they were so accommodating for me. I just love my couples so much!
It was so nice to be able to get out of the house and work with people who completely understand my current season of life. I love my daughter, don’t get me wrong, but I was craving fresh air and sunshine so this session ended up being exactly what I needed. I couldn’t have asked to welcome my busy season with a better couple or a more beautiful setting! You see, apple blossoms are pretty much the caffeine to photographers. They are light and beautiful, soft and romantic, they make for amazing foreground AND background, and they bloom around the most photographer friendly season (weather-wise), you really can’t go wrong! I had been dying to do a session with the apple blossoms forever, but they are easy to miss if you aren’t able to time it right. This was what I was afraid would happen for Olivia and Scott’s engagement session. When Olivia and I started chatting about what she envisioned her engagement session looking like, she knew from the very beginning she wanted apple blossoms. I was all for this obviously, the only scheduling issue was that I was due to deliver Grace on the 15th of May and at the time Olivia and I were chatting, we could only guess when the apple blossoms would be in full bloom. Call it luck of the draw, but we ended up scheduling their session perfectly and were able to capture some gorgeous images of the two of them surrounded by the most beautiful blooms. I was a very happy photographer!!
Olivia and Scott, thank you so much for the laughs and getting me out of the house! You guys are the best and I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do! I can’t wait to see you for your wedding in just a few short months 🙂
