Chelsey and Thomas met in high school back in 2011. He was a friend of her older brother and it was his humor that first caught her attention. They started dating shortly after but it wasn’t until 2014 that they would become inseparable. After meeting Thomas at their engagement session, I immediately saw the humor Chelsey was talking about. I don’t think they stopped joking around the entire session, which would explain the amount of genuine portraits I was able to capture of the two of them. Their wedding was no different. Thomas planned a very entertaining garter dance which required children’s eyes to be closed, I’ll just say that…the entire barn was in tears, phones were out recording the event, and poor Chelsey was in the middle of it all, equal parts horrified and amused! This was just one of the many reasons why it was such a joy to be a part of their celebration.
Their ceremony and reception took place at a new barn venue just outside of town. It’s a massive, beautiful barn that Chelsey was obviously excited about, except for one minor thing…because it’s brand new, that means the surrounding grounds still look like a construction zone, which means pretty and grassy portrait locations around the venue are very hard to come by. So far, all that surrounds the building is dirt with small patches of new baby grass. Don’t get me wrong, by this time next year, the grounds will be GORGEOUS, but we had to look elsewhere to get portraits with the grassy look Chelsey was hoping for. Luckily, a friend of theirs lived only 5 minutes down the road and owns a beautiful piece of property that provided the perfect grassy field Chelsey wanted. After getting some portraits there, we headed back to the venue and got ready to get the party started!
Chelsey and Thomas, thank you so much for inviting me into your lives to capture such an important day. I don’t take that responsibility lightly and hope you enjoy reliving your wedding day through some of my favorite images!
