Brooke and I first met when we were both bridesmaids in her cousins wedding! Little did I know, I would be shooting their engagement photos about 6 years later! It’s crazy how life works sometimes 🙂 Brooke booked her engagement session with me almost a year in advance and I’m so glad she did because I had no idea how busy I would be this time of year (hence why these blog posts are coming a bit later than normal!) I met Brook and Tyler for their engagement session on the land they purchased to build their house on. It was the perfect choice to do their photos to represent the start of the rest of their lives not only with marriage, but with their very own home.
Tyler made it pretty clear that he was there because he loved Brooke and because she wanted engagement pictures done, but he wasn’t going to have any fun. Well I made it my goal to squash that mindset and at the end of their session when I asked Tyler if it was as bad as he thought, he said no it actually wasn’t bad at all 🙂 Photo sessions don’t have to be stiff and awkward! I wouldn’t want that, so that’s not what I want my clients to experience either. I want them to laugh through the majority of their session, whether that laughter is at me and the weird way my body contorts to get the perfect angle, or laughing at themselves at the pose I just put them in when I tell them “I know it feels weird but you guys look SO CUTE!!” and then I start squealing because they do in fact look so cute. I will never apologize for my photography personality. I love that it comes out and makes my couples feel comfortable and confident, that’s all part of the experience!
Brooke and Tyler, thank you so much for allowing me to capture such gorgeous portraits of the two of you! I had a blast and I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from our time together below!
