A Backyard Wedding | Plattsburgh, New York
I’ve known Rian for about 6 years now. We met when we worked together at Touraid (our local travel agency) and I was convinced she hated me for about the first year I worked there. Bet you weren’t expecting to read that huh? 😉 I have no idea why I thought that, but after I asked her if she did in fact hate me and she said no, we both had a good laugh and Rian quickly became one of my moma bears at Touraid. She made work fun even on the weekends, she would fix any mistakes I made before anyone else found out about them, and she LOVED making me laugh. Honestly it wasn’t hard, she’s hilarious and I was constantly laughing at her antics.
Rian booked me as her wedding photographer back in July of 2017, before I had ever photographed a wedding. Have I mentioned how trusting and amazing my friends are? Because they are. I remember messaging back and forth with her about possible wedding dates and when she had finally picked one, it was exactly one year away which seemed like forever. I can’t believe how fast that year flew by. I knew it was going to be a fun wedding for a couple reasons. The first reason was because a lot of Touraid people were on her guest list. The second was because the forecast was calling for the perfect day weather-wise. And third was because it was going to be under a huge tent in her backyard. Give me alllll the backyard weddings please 🙂
The laughing didn’t stop from the time I got to the hair and makeup location, to the time I left the reception. I remember sitting in front of my computer to upload my cards after getting home and realizing that my cheeks were literally numb. I don’t think I stopped smiling once during her wedding day. Rian and Phil each wrote their own vows which got everyone laughing and crying (including myself, big surprise there), and after the ceremony it was just one big party. I won’t go into too much detail, but trust me when I say it was one to remember for sure!
Rian and Phil, thank you so much for including me on your wedding day. You two are absolutely perfect for one another and I wish you nothing but the best in all of your years to come. And Rian, please stop threatening to burn your dress. It’s gorgeous, leave it alone!
