Back in July, I met up with Maggie and Jeff in the beautiful Lake Placid region which is about an hours drive away from Plattsburgh. I sometimes catch myself taking for granted the absolute beauty we get to live among on a day to day basis. People literally vacation in this region for the views, and yet here I am living with it in my backyard and a short drive away. I was so excited when Maggie & Jeff agreed to meet me in Lake Placid, I knew exactly where I wanted to take them! Gorgeous mountain views, vast open fields, tall grass, all of my favorite things when I’m looking for locations for photos!
However, stunning postcard worthy views aside, it can’t take away the awkwardness of meeting a couple in person for the first time. It’s very much like “Hi I’m me and you’re you and even though we’ve never met face to face until now, I’m going to be taking photos of you for the next two hours!”…Yea, it’s awkward. That’s why it’s so important to make sure I’m the perfect fit for each and every one of my couples. Maggie and Jeff understood this and were looking for the same thing in a wedding photographer. Luckily for me, after a few emails and a phone call later, they decided I was a good fit for their day and I am so incredibly glad that they felt that way! I could tell they were a bit nervous about the whole process but honestly after the first 10 minutes of their engagement session, we were all laughing and having such a good time together.
Maggie and Jeff are the kind of people you want in your corner, they are motivated, intelligent, incredibly kind, loyal, and above all inspiring. I remember at the end of our time together, I mentioned that I had put in my two week notice at my full time office job so I could pursue photography full time and both Maggie and Jeff were so excited for me and were completely convinced I would do amazing things. They were so proud of me and people like that, people who genuinely care about the wellbeing and success of others, those types of people are so special and the types of people I hold in high regard.
