I can’t believe this is my very last wedding blog post for 2018! One of the goals I had for my business this year was to book at least 5 weddings. I know that doesn’t sound like much but with a full time job, I wanted to make sure I didn’t overwhelm myself from the start and run the risk of getting burnt out early on. I ended up booking 6 weddings as well as second shooting at 4 other weddings next to well established photographers and instead of feeling burnt out, I felt more motivated than ever. This year FLEW by and I couldn’t be more grateful for all that I’ve accomplished, but that’s a whole other blog post coming soon!
My 2018 wedding season ended with Nikki and Nate, and what a couple to end my season with! They are the most relaxed, go with the flow couple, and their love for each other was the focal point of their wedding day. No over the top decorations, no mile long guest list, no 6 tier wedding cake, just them surrounded by their closest friends and family. It’s no wonder they are as nice a couple as they are either. Just before the ceremony, the grooms mother approached me and was asking me about my business, how long I’d been doing it, what my plans were with it, and then complimented me on my work. She said she had looked through my portfolio and blog and that my work was excellent for only doing it as long as I have. Talk about a motivation boost! I’ve said it before but my couples and their families are seriously the best!
One of the cutest moments of the day had to have been when the flower girl ran up to Nikki and Nate right in the middle of the ceremony and asked loudly “what you doing?!” to which Nikki responded with a huge smile, “we’re getting married!” SO. ADORABLE. The emotional ceremony continued with heartfelt vows that triggered tears all through those watching. This is why I will never take this job for granted. What an honor it is to be chosen to not only witness, but document these chapters in couples lives together.
Nikki and Nate, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Being there to capture your love for one another was such a gift, and I’m so glad our life paths crossed and allowed us to meet. I wish you both nothing but happiness in your future together which from what I know about you and how I’ve seen you interact, won’t be an issue at all.
